The company was founded in 1948 and was based in Talke, Staffordshire, England, where it derived its name, manufacturing under the brand name of CARBO, paints, creosotes, disinfectants and other products derived from coal tar. In 1954 the company moved into West Heath Mill of Congleton, Cheshire, England. The company extended the range of paint products to oxides, primers and floor coatings supplying merchants throughout the North West. A new factory and warehousing facility was built in 1998 off Back Lane, and the Old Mill was closed. In March 2000, Everingham Paints and Chemicals Ltd a small specialist coating manufacturer based in Leigh, Lancashire was purchased, enhancing the range of decorative coatings and speciality paints including emulsions, enamels and wall paints, retaining and continuing the facility at Leigh distributing throughout the United Kingdom. The company continues to trade at both Congleton and Leigh, using the registered name of PALATINE PAINTS, the name PALATINE derived from the ancient Palatine Counties of Cheshire and Lancashire. A specialist confidential toll manufacturing facility is operated for other companies and retail outlets using our heavy duty and high speed stirrers, ball and bead mills, with packaging options all under the control of our internal quality control system and development laboratory. |
